Paper Wrapped Mat — Passe Partout
The Paper Wrapped mat technique is the first technique to learn when you want to frame in the French way. This technique is simple, but has so much potential, as you can create great frames with a basic technique.
You will learn how to wrap a 2-ply mat with acid free paper. With the large choice of papers available, you can enhance your artwork by finding the perfect paper for your mat. This is simply not possible with a conventional 4-ply mat purchased in a framing or art store.
In the example, it would have been impossible to find a mat with those waves on the top to carry through the ocean theme as the picture was taken at the beach.
In this workshop, you will learn the basic Paper Wrapped Mat technique — Passe Partout in French — which can be compared to a single-matting technique.
At the end of the workshop, you’ll walk away with a custom frame that will save you between $50 to $100 by doing it yourself.
